A small company based in Cheshire, we deliver across the UK and work with vendors from around the world. We believe passionately that gifting is a precious medium for communication and are dedicated to sourcing gifts worthy of life’s most joyous occasions.
The Founder
Formerly a Features Editor at Forbes Middle East, Forbes Woman and Martha Stewart Weddings, Joanne wrote about travel, luxury and lifestyle. She also handled public relations for high-end design, jewellery and fashion houses before launching Magpie & Co.
“Our love of gifting is innately human. We use it to express emotions and deepen connections. For me, gifting has always been a precious process. After hours, days or weeks of thought, there’s nothing quite like the suspense before a beautifully wrapped gift is opened, the sound of the paper tearing, the sheer surprise and unbridled delight on the recipient’s face. Truly great gifts don’t need to cost the earth, but they need to say something – I love you, I know you, you matter. I appreciate well-crafted, slow-made things, functional pieces that are beautifully produced, first-edition books, real silk scarves, Swiss watches and Irish hand-cut crystal.
Since leaving the world of publishing, people still ask for my personal recommendations. They want to learn about the brands and products that can’t be found in a department store or a search algorithm. They want to know how a product feels, if it ages well and if it truly makes the heart sing.”
